‘Blessings in a Bag’ has a number of projects under them – both present and future. Below is a list briefly outlining each project we have and our future plans. We welcome anyone who would like to contribute ideas and volunteer!

Blessings in a Bag partners up with organisatios and communities to set up a range of pick up points where people can drop off donations from our centre at specified locations. We advise people who bring donations with them to pack the items in their check-in luggage. Everyone who participates in the movement will help cut the amount of fuel used, reduce carbon footprints and actively be involved in making a difference in the lives of Children across Asia. This is a work in progress but our vision is to see schools in Singapore actively representing ‘Blessings in a Bag’ within their own communities. We plan to set up ‘Blessings in a Bag’ (BIAB) donation bins and get students involved with our activities, plan events in support of BIAB and brainstorming ideas to help our beneficiaries.

Kick-started by our founder as a little side project, it has flourished in the last year and has impacted many women in the Philippines and Cambodia. Emily comes up with product designs and briefs groups of women with her ideas. Some of the women have been rescued from brothels or human trafficking, others simply wish to provide a better life for their families, especially their daughters.

We’re adamant about bringing some sustainability to the work we do with this project and encourage the women to use local materials and skills. As a result, each and every product is completely one of a kind and has been hand-made with love.

Products are sold at a variety of events and will debut in a few local retailers here, too!

A new project launched in 2011 in partnership with the Children’s Cancer
Foundation and the KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. We hope to screen movies every month to kids with terminal illnesses, bring some goodies every now and again to brighten up their stay at the hospital. We’ll also be inviting local bands, school choirs, magicians, clowns, etc. – to bring some sunshine into the wards!

VIDEO EZY is a proud partner for the project in loaning the DVD’s needed. The TRAINING CENTRE is a proud partner for the project in loaning the audio and visual equipment. And local companies and individuals have already agreed to chip in to help in a variety of ways to keep this project going.

Details coming soon.

The aim of this project is to open up the lines of communication between the underprivileged children and youths in countries such as Nepal, Thailand, Philippines and India, with the likes of the children in Singapore, Australia and even America. In time to come, we hope to extend this network to fellow scribblers all over the world!

We would love to engage our youths in cultures and experiences that exist beyond their immediate surroundings, and have them celebrate and embrace difference and diversity in our modern world.
