Get Involved

You don’t have to be super rich or do a whole lot in order to make a difference in someone else’s life. The following is a list of ways in which you can help out.

Find out how you can get involved :

We’re a small organisation and we could definitely use extra helping hands! Volunteers help us out in some of the following ways:

  • Set up, ushering, packing up at events
  • Sort out and organise the donations we receive each week
  • Pack boxes that will be sent to our various beneficiaries
  • Get involved with some of the planning or actual implementation of our Projects
  • Come up with creative ideas on how YOU can make a difference in your own capacity (some fun ideas you can try out are found at the bottom of this page!)
  • Represent ‘Blessings in a Bag’ in your school or community (See ‘DREAM BIG PROGRAM’ below)

SOME FUN IDEAS (because we all need a little kick-start sometimes!)

We know you want to make a difference.  We know you’re passionate to rally your friends and family for a cause too many children and communities face even to this day.  You are angered and frustrated by the statistics thrown at you; A family living on less than USD1 a day,  a child dying due to lack of water or simply from a cold that could have been prevented by clothing on their back and a blanket to sleep under, a child who contracts an infection that is easily treatable and easier to prevent with a pair of shoes.

So, here are some fun ways we thought you could get the ball rolling in your court.  Rally up your friends and family…or simply start on your own because, who says making a difference can’t start with just one person? (Hey, it did with our founder!

If you’re in school you can come up with crazy cool ideas to make a difference!  Please note that these are only suggestions and you can definitely come up with better ideas if you have any  Here are some ideas we’ve managed to come up with:

  • You can speak to your school heads and see if you can convince them to give you ONE school day where the whole school can wear their own clothes (and not uniform) and give $2 each! We’d love to see two schools go head to head to see who can raise the most amount of money.  In fact, why don’t you give a friendly challenge to your rival school today?
  • You can set up a ‘Blessings in a Bag Dream Big Booth’ in your school to create and spread awareness of what children in developing nations in Asia face today.  You can also sell ‘Blessings in a Bag Merch’ such as our WorldChangeAgent tees, pin badges, etc.
  • Hold a Bake Sale or Sausage Sizzle on campus. We used to do these every week in school in Australia – each class would come up with an idea on how to raise funds to support a cause they believed in.  In this case, you can bake cupcakes to or grill sausages to sell during your school’s lunch break.
  • Plan a trip to visit one of our beneficiaries and bring over donations-in-kind from us.  On the trip, you can be sure to have amazing experiences and make awesome memories alongside friends while knowing you are making a difference in the lives of children in that particular country.
  • Organise your entire school community to focus on collecting one item (or more, if you wish!) that we collect.  For instance, get your peers to donate children’s or teen books.
  • Send us an email to share your story about how you’ve made a difference in someone else’s life.  It can be a trip you took overseas to do charity/volunteer work or simply a story about helping a man across the street or helping to pay for the next person’s purchase in a line at Starbucks!  Don’t forget to attach photos if you have any! You can share your story with us here.

If you’re an individual you can do some of the following fun things:

  • You can host a tea party/get together for friends – tell them about our cause and see if they would like to get involved by raising your own cash to get items listed on our WISHLIST page.  You can focus on one item or make an entire BlessingBagPack. *AwesomeHint: You can make your purchases at second-hand stores to get more out of your dollar value!
  • You can collect a particular item that we need most at the time from your own community, neighbours, building, office, etc. Our needs change frequently as our main goal is to provide assistance to existing organisations in respective countries so we check in on their needs every now and then to make sure we help where we can.  It is best to contact us and ask what items are needed most at that particular time.
